CONCUSSION

Our priority at the Swanbourne Tigers is the health and safety of our participants in all situations.

In 2024, the guidelines for management of sport related concussion were updated. A copy of the full position statement is available

https://www.concussioninsport.gov.au

Recurrent concussion

If a player sustains a second concussion in a season (regardless of whether this is at school/home/training/in a game/ not a sport related concussion), then they must be assessed by a doctor who specialises in concussion management (Sports physician or GP with training in this area) and medically cleared by them for return to training and play.

If a player sustains three concussions in a season, it is recommended that they do not participate in competition for the rest of the season and should be assessed by a doctor who specialises in concussion management for further guidance.
